Story Synopsis
The great detective of old, Polson Wall , entrusted his life to Dead Elephant through his final moments, passing it to K-1647 .
K-1647’s consciousness continually fused with Wall’s, splitting into Cloak , Fireclaw , and Earfish , then projecting them through the projector onto different planes.
Plane 0 Story of Cloak (storyline 0x00–0x0F)
- Where the three characters first meet.
Plane A The Greenish Eye (storyline 0xA0–0xAF)
- A chaotic timeline filled with puzzles.
- Most tricks concern sound and colour; players solve them by mapping spectrograms and optical spectra.
- Eleven cases are planned.
Plane B Katelyn Wall’s Last Case (storyline 0xB0–0xBF)
- Katelyn Wall appears after all Plane A questions are answered.
- Time stabilises here. Katelyn must face the last chapter of her life and solve the final case she handled.
Plane C
- To be decided.
Gameplay
A first-person environmental puzzle game.
Core Loop
Enter different puzzle rooms to experience each world’s mysteries, then solve them with items found in ordinary rooms.
Music
Each puzzle room has dedicated music. The music must be “completed” to advance the story.
For example, if a jazz piece lacks piano, choose one item:
- Suona
- Wind chimes
- African drum
Option 2 is clearly the best fit.
Beyond completing the form, the game uses reverb space, frequency bands, harmony, and other aspects of arrangement and mixing.
Art
In an ordinary room, use HUE adjustment to find symbols (objects or text) with incongruous motion—colour overlays, dissolves, flickers, colour shifts, mosaics, movement, and so on. These items can produce sounds when used with the radio 📻.
Radio / Components (Modem)
The radio 📻 starts with only one knob and is missing many components.
- The knob adjusts hue (HUE) to find items in ordinary rooms.
- As the story advances, collect components such as more knobs, antennas, tape readers, and recorders. Each adjusts different visual properties such as RGB or HSL.
- Standard components: knobs and antennas, which further alter visual properties.
- Special components:
- Tape reader: changes properties of a music segment, such as frequency and amplitude, based on the knobs.
- Recorder: records the sound of a puzzle room and serves as a player log, like a camera in some 3D games.
Components may be kept permanently or become temporarily or permanently unavailable after a story event.
Story Progression
First Run
The first run is titled The Greenish Eye, with a blue-green visual palette.
Solve multiple puzzles to gain achievements and key items that may be temporarily unavailable. Once all key items are collected, the next run begins.
Second Run
The second run is titled The Last Case and has two protagonists.
- Fireclaw , the only non-red-green-colour-blind cat.
- Kate Wall , a snake-featured person who is red-green colour-blind.
Switch between Fireclaw’s and Kate’s perspectives and use items inherited from the first run to uncover Kate’s origins.
Atmosphere
Music: quiet.
